I’m so glad you’ve landed here and are curious to learn more about this mama-run, slow and intentional little business of mine.

I’m Shala ~ the founder, creator, operator, designer, packer, customer service rep and overall one-woman show behind everything that is Slow.

I don’t have one of those “my skin was so bad I tried everything and nothing worked so I created my own skincare” stories.

Mine is a story about the evolution of my relationship with plants and the quiet magic that happens when we create with our hands. Over the years, I found myself drawn deeper into the rhythms of growing, harvesting and working with herbs. What began as personal ritual slowly became something I wanted to share with others.

My dear sister (who does deal with skin woes) was the one who lovingly nudged me to turn what I had been making for years into a business. And so, Slow was born.

It’s been a wild and beautiful ride. One that I’ve considered stepping away from many times ~ not because I don’t deeply love what I do (I truly feel grateful every day that this is my work), but because running a small business alone while also being a mama and a wife can be a lot to hold.

I’ve never been a “salesy” person, and yet my livelihood has depended on selling the things I make with my hands for nearly seven years now.

Slow is more than skincare.

My hope for this work is to support a gentle reconnection to nature, to the body, and to oneself through the simple act of applying botanicals and nourishing fats to the skin.

This is what herbal-infused fats have done for me.

The act of growing, harvesting, drying, infusing, blending, bottling and finally applying has become a ritual of care. A way of slowing down. A way of tending to myself.

It is my deepest hope that this intention finds its way into every bottle and jar that leaves my hands.
